“I want to say thank you for the information and skills that were taught during 2017’s Great Florida Fire School. Today we had a structure fire where we were the third unit to arrive. Upon our arrival, we were assigned to search. The fire in the house was in the attic, but the first units had difficulty locating it. Upon approaching the structure, I applied the skills and techniques I learned using the TIC for a quick size-up of the building and identified its layout. Upon entering the garage, my partner and I were able to locate the seat of the fire with the TIC in seconds that the other crews had been searching for, for approximately 3 minutes, and because of that, we were able to get a good knockdown on the fire. My partner and I were able to search the house quickly and efficiently using methods I had learned and brought back to my department from the Great Florida Fire School.
